2020 Genesis G90 - Unbeatable Luxury Value

The Genesis G90 2020 test drive in Washington's beautiful beach towns allowed us to enjoy the update of the flagship of the new Korean luxury brand, which seeks to consolidate its position in the United States market against traditional German and Japanese brands.

Based on the Athletic Elegance design philosophy and the Horizontal Architecture platform, the new G90 2020 that debuted at the Auto Show Los Angeles, includes a long list of image, engineering and security system updates.

The half-life renovation also adds new exterior paint options, more infotainment technology, connectivity and exclusive services with which Genesis seeks to make a difference to its competitors in the ownership experience.

Without a doubt, the biggest and most attractive change compared to the current model, is the new interpretation of the grill with the Genesis G-Matrix design, along with the extensive use of lighting units - both in the front and rear - , which give it a more elegant and modern image.

The new grille's design pattern is echoed on exclusive 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels and inside the cab in door panel detailing and leather upholstery on all seats.

Genesis offers it with rear or 4-wheel drive, with the 3.3-liter V6 turbocharged base engine generating 365 horsepower and the optional 5.0-liter V8 with 420 horsepower, both coupled to the 8-shift automatic transmission.

Although the powertrain is the same as the current model, Genesis engineers made adjustments to acceleration, suspension, transmission shifting, and other systems to further enhance the excellent driving experience expected of a large luxury sedan.

The security technologies platform also received a comprehensive upgrade with 9 new or significantly improved systems, making the Genesis G90 one of the safest cars in all segments.

In the cockpit, the 12.3-inch center display perfectly integrated into the design of the center console also stands out, as well as the 7-inch digital instrument panel behind the steering wheel that offers all vital information simply and securely.

Genesis also incorporated the blind spot alert system into the instrument panel with video images produced by cameras installed on both rear view mirrors, which is complemented by the Surround View Monitor II and Driver Attention Warning systems.

With all these improvements, Genesis hopes to continue its climb in the luxury car segment, especially with a great advantage in the base price - the 2019 model has a range of $72,200 to $ 79,225, against competing models such as the Mercedes-Benz S Class 2020 ($94,250), the Audi A7 2020 ($69,000) or the BMW 7 Series ($86,450), which have less standard equipment.
