On Thursday evening, Tesla unveiled their long-awaited Semi after two months of delays. The presentation was filled with typical excitement for the Silicon Valley automaker. Crowds cheered as Tesla once again redefined another segment in the transportation industry. Tesla managed to exceed expectations on range and the Tesla Semi was revealed to have futures that will change the trucking industry; features such as impact resistant glass and Enhanced Autopilot featuring Automatic Emergency Braking, Automatic Lane Keeping, Lane Departure Warning, and event recording.
At the end of the presentation, Elon revealed his "And one more thing..." moment: a working model of the next generation Tesla Roadster. The whole world was caught off guard as no leaks or rumors had surfaced about a Roadster unveiling. Yes, Elon has been promising an updated Roadster for a while but to see a working one on stage was a real treat.
Here are the quick facts FOR THE BASE MODEL:
0-60mph: 1.9 sec.
0-100mph: 4.2 sec.
1/4 mile: 8.8 sec.
Top Speed: 250+ mph
Range: 620 miles
All-Wheel Drive, 3 Electric Motors
Wheel Torque: 10,000 Nm
Base Price: $200,000

Whether these figures prove to be true or not, only time will tell. In the past, Tesla has generally understated their numbers and testers have been pleasantly surprised. However, it's hard to imagine the new Roadster accelerating any faster than these numbers claim, since it's probably already pushing the limits of available traction.
For now, let's enjoy the beauty that is the next generation Tesla Roadster.
